Week 16
Week 16 has been amazing. I say that even despite the fact that I had to wear a super uncomfortable Holter Monitor for 24 hours. I have been having heart palpitations every day throughout the pregnancy. Originally, I had thought that my thyroid was becoming hyperactive again, but I was tested and my thyroid function was completely normal. Three years ago, when I was first diagnosed with hyperthyroid, my number one symptom was the heart palpitations so I just assumed that this time was the same. Oddly enough, the palpitations are here without the thyroid over activity so we are trying to figure out what is going on in there. As you can see below I look a bit like a robot. It wouldn’t have been so bad, but they had to ensure that the little monitor thingys wouldn’t fall off by taping them to my body. The tape was like poison ivy. I was itching and wriggling for most of the evening and all of Wednesday morning. The removal of all of the tape was as painful as you can imagine but I was just so happy to be free from wires that I didn’t really care. My results should be in in about 5 days. I have this feeling that they are going to be somewhat inconclusive. All the monitor is going to be able to say is “yes, you are having palpitations”. Since I already know I am having them I will be interested to see if the docs can make any conclusions as to why. My theory is that it has to do with my digestion as they always seem to occur after eating and especially if I am inactive after eating. This poor child, I am already apologizing to it for its plumbing. I have a crazy stomach and Jon has an equally crazy stomach. There is already so much gas in our little family as it is, I can only imagine how much more this little one is going to bring. Hopefully he or she will appreciate the humor in it as much as Jon and I do.
In other exciting news about week 16 I can feel the baby moving all of the time. I felt the first movement last week. It felt like gas but since nothing happened after the “bubble”
feeling I knew it was the little Dinger. Now I can feel the little one moving around all the time in there. I laugh every time I feel the movement. I still can’t believe there is a tiny little human in there swimming around and standing on its head. I’m now even starting to look a little pregnant. I have a tiny baby belly and after I have eaten I definitely look pregnant instead of just looking fat and bloated like I did a couple of weeks ago. Hooray!
