Well it’s official, I have completely lost all most of my strength. This evening marked my first foray back into the land of pull ups, callused hands, ripped up feet, knees and ankles and the oh so exciting “I can’t move in the morning ” soreness. I have to say that tonight wasn’t as bad as my very first trapeze lesson, but it was ridiculously frustrating since I used to be able to do just about anything and now can barely climb the rope. They say that after you have a baby your strength comes back pretty quickly because of that beautiful muscle memory business but my abs and arm muscles are basically non existent right now. I am however, lucky enough to have the world’s best trapeze teacher, none other than Niff Nicholls! She was so encouraging and supportive as I struggled to do what used to be so easy for me. Elziebub joined me and was a real trooper for the most part. Everyone took turns holding her when she got fussy and after class was over Niff and I rigged up the fabric and had a little photo shoot!
Here are a few pics from the last few days.
How cute is this hat?!!?
This is just about as cute as it gets. I LOVE when she does this.
Just three seconds before this photo was being a total TERROR. You would never guess it by how angelic she looks in this photo.
Look at that identical hand placement. What a daddy’s girl!
This was one of those days where we were rushing to get out of the house but had to stop for the photo op!
Elzie is smiling like crazy now and cooing all over the place. It’s so amazing to hear her little voice. I really hope she can sing as beautifully as her dad can!
I hope everyone enjoyed the photos! I really can’t believe that Elzie is already 2 months old. Where has the time gone?
This weekend we had the pleasure of attending the Chestnut Hill Fall for the Arts Festival where we got to see Auntie Niff kick some major butt in her rope routine (this was the 3rd time in a span of two hours that she had to perform this routine and you would NEVER know!!).
This past weekend I was lucky enough to be showered again with gifts and love! My aunt Sandy organized a “surprise” baby shower for me out in Pottstown. I knew about it but knew none of the details. Jon and I arrived at my parent’s house at noon on Saturday. I was blindfolded and put in the car and told not to ask any questions….I believe this was some sort of revenge for the way in which we told my parents I was pregnant (video to come soon of that, I promise). Needless to say, the ride from Wayne to Pottstown (about 45 minutes) was almost unbearable being blindfolded. I stuck it out though and lasted the whole way without being able to see. My mom led me into the restaurant and apparently it was the most hilarious spectacle. I wish I could have been an outsider looking in instead of being the idiot who was blindfolded!
Here are a bunch of shots. Visit Jon’s Flickr Page to see the originals!
Thanks again to everyone who helped to organize and keep me in the dark!
This past weekend Jon’s family (major props to Allison and Janet) threw us a fantastic pool side shower. There was tons of amazing food, incredible presents and fun had by all. Here are a few pics and videos of our time showering it up!
Here is what happens when Jon’s old band arrives and takes over the pool. It was such an impressive feat because it literally took them 50 tries to nail the final dunk–go Jon, Mr. Dunk himself!
Thanks again to all those that attended. Jon and I had a blast. Everyone was so generous with their gifting. Elzie is so set!
On friday we had our 25 week appointment. Everything was fantastic. The midwives were quite pleased that I had gained 8 lbs this month and am now measuring right on target (last month I was a bit too small for their liking). It’s quite easy to gain 8 lbs when you have two servings of ice cream a day. Here are some videos from our Friday adventuring.
25 week heartbeat and some “neckfurters”
After our appointment we picked up Shelly and Rowan and went over to my parent’s house for a little bbq. To test our own parenting abilities, we found as many ways as possible to laugh uncontrollably at a toddler. Spinning turned out to work the best. Here are Jon and Shelly taking little nugget on a spinning adventure.
Here my dad got a little training of his own. Taking Rowan for a shoulder ride, he got a good taste of the next few summers. Rowan finally decides that the shoulder ride is no where near as exciting as spinning so he requests help on a dismount and spins again. This time I’m the spinner! Once Rowan realized how much we enjoyed a laugh at his expense he began to just walk and fall on his own. What a little ham.
On Saturday Jon’s oh so generous mom took me shopping for a whole new maternity wardrobe. I managed to get a whole bunch of items that will serve me well for the remainder of this pregnancy. Thanks Janet!!! Here you can see that Jon got a little taste of what it might be like to have a 6 month pregnant belly. I think he looks quite dashing…and lumpy!
