Less than 4 months to go!!!! I still can’t believe how quickly the time is flying and how quickly this little girl is taking up my entire body. I know I will look back on this post when I am 9 months preggo and think, “oh if I could only be that small again” but for now it just feels so strange to be this differently sized. I managed to get my hands on a pair of awesome maternity jeans. Leave it to my silly body to only fit into designer jeans, but at least they fit! (and i got em on ebay for a steal!)
Well folks, I’m more than half done cooking a small child in my proverbial oven. I can’t seem to believe it myself. Jon and I rewarded ourselves for all this hard work with a trip to the shore. Here is what the shore rewarded me with:
I slathered up with SPF 50 and still managed to lose my battle with the sun. I think the trick will be to either 1. stay out of the sun or 2. reapply VERY frequently.
Jon’s family owns a house in Longport, NJ just one block from the beach and now that we have time, we are going to start visiting as often as possible. This past weekend Jon’s Aunt, Uncle and Cousins were down. Jon’s cousin Lauren and her husband Mike just got a new boxer puppy. He is 11 weeks old and just the cutest thing ever!
Here is a pic of my belly at 21 weeks. I will be posting some more Jon VS Liz belly shots soon.
So week 18 is over and I am now a couple days into week 19. I have been feeling sooooo good and last week we found out that the little kicker is a girl. We are planning on sticking with our original name choice of Elzie. As long as my dad can keep it straight by calling her “L-Z” instead of “L-C” we should be all good. We had some rote memorization training with him on Saturday but the amount of memorial day Miller Lite consumed may have outweighed all of our hard work.
Here is a little video of us telling the rents. I had made a sign that hung right in front of my belly. It was kept shut using velcro and paperclips.
Showing Enough for People to know I’m Preggo and not just fat!
Heyo! Shirtless!
I think I might be winning, but I’m not sure?!
This was really a week without incident which was such a nice change! I only threw up once and overall I felt great. For the most part, I completely feel like my old pre-pregnancy self again… well except for the fact that I am finally showing. It happened over about a two week period of time, and now there is no mistaking my belly for fat! It’s exciting to take the bump out. I love the way that people look at me. I can tell that the majority of them are thinking “jeez, is she older than Jamie Lynne Spears??”
I had an appointment at the Birth Center on the 16th and Jamesina, the midwife that day was just amazing. She said that everything is measuring perfectly and that the baby’s heart rate is exactly as it should be. She also told us that we can schedule the 20 week ultrasound as early as the middle of week 18. We will finally know if this little kicker is Elzie or Jamis. I can barely contain the excitement. I really feel like it’s Elzie but we shall see. The kicks are happening much more often and in such greater numbers now. Jon even got to feel a little one for the first time this morning. We are so lucky that we are getting to experience all of this movement so early. I would like to thank my small frame for that, but might have other things to say to my small frame around the middle of October.
My general practitioner called and told me that the results of the Holter Monitor were completely normal. I guess all of these palpitations are really just from little baby baby in there weighing down on all my innards. Hopefully the start of my prenatal yoga next week will help with all of this.
Week 16 has been amazing. I say that even despite the fact that I had to wear a super uncomfortable Holter Monitor for 24 hours. I have been having heart palpitations every day throughout the pregnancy. Originally, I had thought that my thyroid was becoming hyperactive again, but I was tested and my thyroid function was completely normal. Three years ago, when I was first diagnosed with hyperthyroid, my number one symptom was the heart palpitations so I just assumed that this time was the same. Oddly enough, the palpitations are here without the thyroid over activity so we are trying to figure out what is going on in there. As you can see below I look a bit like a robot. It wouldn’t have been so bad, but they had to ensure that the little monitor thingys wouldn’t fall off by taping them to my body. The tape was like poison ivy. I was itching and wriggling for most of the evening and all of Wednesday morning. The removal of all of the tape was as painful as you can imagine but I was just so happy to be free from wires that I didn’t really care. My results should be in in about 5 days. I have this feeling that they are going to be somewhat inconclusive. All the monitor is going to be able to say is “yes, you are having palpitations”. Since I already know I am having them I will be interested to see if the docs can make any conclusions as to why. My theory is that it has to do with my digestion as they always seem to occur after eating and especially if I am inactive after eating. This poor child, I am already apologizing to it for its plumbing. I have a crazy stomach and Jon has an equally crazy stomach. There is already so much gas in our little family as it is, I can only imagine how much more this little one is going to bring. Hopefully he or she will appreciate the humor in it as much as Jon and I do.
In other exciting news about week 16 I can feel the baby moving all of the time. I felt the first movement last week. It felt like gas but since nothing happened after the “bubble”
feeling I knew it was the little Dinger. Now I can feel the little one moving around all the time in there. I laugh every time I feel the movement. I still can’t believe there is a tiny little human in there swimming around and standing on its head. I’m now even starting to look a little pregnant. I have a tiny baby belly and after I have eaten I definitely look pregnant instead of just looking fat and bloated like I did a couple of weeks ago. Hooray!
