So it’s obvious that I am going to be the once a month posting mom. I wish I could find more time in the day for posting, but it just looks like that’s not going to happen. I don’t even have any new videos since the last post. I do however, have a few amazing photos that Jon took with his new Nikon D90. The camera adds to his already spectacular photography skills so everyone wins!
Poor Elzie, I hope that her hair starts to grow in a little bit more in these coming months. She’s totally rocking the insane old man comb over but it would be nice if some cute little curls or at least a few strands started to grow to help fill in the obvious gaps. Oh little girl with old man hair how I love you so!
So it turns out that I am a terrible blogger now that the child has arrived. It’s been 2 months since my last post and I have no other excuse aside from the fact that Elzie takes up every waking (and sleeping) moment of my life. It’s only on Sundays that I find any sort of reprieve when I drop Elzie off at my parents house for the day. They have been such wonderful grandparents over the past couple of months taking her so I can find a few moments to myself.
This past Sunday, March 29th, was my 30th bday and Jon organized a fabulous little family surprise party for me at my parent’s house. There were presents, amazing food, cake, and a sick baby As luck would have it, Elzie got her first cold on my birthday. She was sneezing, coughing, and over all just out of it. I felt so bad for the little girl. She was so brave though. She really only got upset when she coughed because I think it was hurting her throat. She has since gotten much better. We took her swimming yesterday for the first time and that seemed to do the trick. The pool was nice and warm and the area was steamy so all of her nasal passages got cleared out. Today she slept in nice and late and all afternoon she was back to her old self again.
Here are a few videos from my bday. Once you have a child even your bday is an excuse to get them gifts. Jon’s mom got Elzie this adorable hopping, singing bunny. It is amazing to watch her interact with it. Right now she just wants to make out with it, but I can only imagine that as she gets older she will want to dance and sing with it too!
Here are a couple more from my bday extravaganza!
I wanted to post a few stats about the little nugget from her 4 month peds visit.
Height: 24.5″
Weight: 13lbs
Head Circ: 16″
Cuteness: 100%
She is in the 25th percentile for weight and 50th for height. Not that I care at all about percentiles, but I figured I would post them so I can look back one of these days and marvel at how small she once was.
While at this visit, it was suggested that we start Elzie on some rice cereal. I had hoped to wait until 6 months to introduce anything other than breast milk, but I decided to give it a try. I went to whole foods and got some organic rice cereal and it turns out that this little girl can’t get enough of the stuff. Here is a video of her eating. It’s the cutest thing!
Below are various videos from the past couple of months. It’s MEGA POST TIME!!!
4 month update:
Elzie Sits Up!
Little Elzie Giggles!
Here are some pics from our recent adventures as well. I am posting a gallery because it is SIGNIFICANTLY easier. That is part of the reason I am so slow in posting, it takes for ever to upload individual pics. The downside to gallery, as you will see, is it just gives you little thumbnails of each pic. You have to click them to get the full image. With all that said, I have promised myself that I will post at least every other Wednesday from here on out. We will see if I can stick with that! ENJOY!!
Well, it has been over a month since my last post and I have absolutely NO idea where the time has gone. When Jon and I first met we would always joke that the other was a major “time suck”, meaning that we could literally spend hours and hours in each others’ company and before we knew it it was 4 o’clock in the morning and we had done nothing but tell stories of our lives up until that moment. It was one of the things that threw me head over heels for the guy! Well, it’s no wonder that our child is more of a time suck than either one of us! She eats time and then poops it out for us to clean up over and over again. We live a glamorous life, really we do!
Here are a few pictures and videos from the last month of raising the little girl. She has so many fun new tricks. She has started to laugh which I have yet to get on video, but it the most glorious sound I have ever heard. It comes straight from her belly and she will only do it if the mood strikes her and if I am doing something that would embarrass me, and if you know me, you know that I don’t embarrass easily, so when I say I am making a fool of myself, you know I’m not kidding! She has also learned to roll from her tummy to her back which I also can’t show you on video but it’s pretty awesome. She does a lot of screaming and talking and just recently she has discovered that she has feet. It’s so cute to watch her grab them and try to put them in her mouth. She hasn’t quite figured it out yet, but I can only imagine she will be making a foot sandwich by the end of the week!
Here is the cat being her rascally little self. We are lucky that Niff’s computer was not destroyed. Notice the full cup of coffee that gets knocked over 7 seconds into the video!
Jon and Elzie have their first intellectual discussion about the state of the world!
Here is the 3 month update!
Here’s a fun little trick we learned. Her pay back is an extra cup of drool every time.
Here is the 10 week update!

“hey mommom, can i put my whole hand in your mouth?”
My apologies for taking so long between posts, but as you can imagine, things have been crazy around here. I can’t believe we are already entering the 2nd week in December! Below are bunches of pictures from the past two weeks.
Here are a few from our first Thanksgiving adventure at Great Aunt Sandy’s house. Elzie was such a trooper the whole day. She was so excited to see so much of her family.
Since Elzie has so much hair, I find that hats look a little funny on her. To make this hat look less weird, I added a little felt flower. She loves wearing it!
On Saturday of last week we spent Thanksgiving #2 with Jon’s family where we had the great pleasure of burying the placenta! It has been sitting in our fridge since the birth and it was starting to go bad…GROSS. Below you can see the burial process. The placenta now has a new home underneath a tree that was planted after Jon’s first Christmas. It has been growing for the past 25 years so we thought what better place for the placenta than under a tree that was planted for Jon as a baby!
This week Elzie and I got to spend time with a friend of mine from college, Mackenzie and her daughter, Livy. They brought with them some very sweet and generous presents for Elzie! One of which was this shirt and hat! How cute! I managed to capture some of Elzie’s best faces while wearing this outfit.
Here’s Livy! Isn’t she so super cute! She is 9 months old and looks so much bigger than the little tiny Elzienug in the swing.
Today we were finally able to find some down time to relax and catch up on some sleep. We also gave Elzie a bath because she was one stinky baby. While Jon was changing her diaper this morning she managed to poop on herself not one, but two times!
Well I really can’t believe how quickly the past three weeks have flown by! Elzie is doing great and getting bigger by the day. She likes to spend most of her time either sleeping, eating, or making the most ridiculous faces ever (probably because she is trying to poop). I have done my best to capture some of her best ones here! I also scored some sweet Christmas Booties that I had to capture as well. ENJOY!
Here is a video of Elzie making her favorite face of all!
